Beach Blanket Baby

This past Sunday we were crazy and took Abigail to the beach in Rehoboth.  We didn't go on Saturday since it was approximately 105 degrees so we decided to go on Sunday since it was a nice, cool, breezy 95 degrees instead.

Now before you report us for being bad parents, let me explain:

1) We were not there long, at all.
2) We were inside the car, a restaurant, or stores longer than we were even outside in the sun/heat.
3) We only SAW the beach from the boardwalk; we did not put Abby in the sand or water or expose her to the sun much.  Official beach trip will be next summer.

Basically we drove down, parked in Rehoboth, ate lunch at Dogfish Head, pushed her in the stroller around to some stores, got ice-cream, and walked the boardwalk for a tiny bit and got a glimpse of the beach/ocean.  Then we got back in the car and drove home!  I had to do two breastfeeding sessions in the car during the trip (always an interesting time) and two diaper changes in the trunk.  It was a short, simple trip but at least it was good to get out for a bit - even just for the car ride!

And now for the documented pics:

Smiles & Laughter

Today was a day filled with many smiles and laughter.  Nana, Pop Pop, Granma, and Aunt Julie came to visit!  I went over a few things with Nana and Granma regarding Abby for when I return to work (boo hoo hoo) and we all had a nice little time together.  We went out to Brother Paul's for dinner and she was a good girl the whole time.

Here are some happy pictures from earlier today!

Happy 2 Months!

Abigail is 2 months old today!  Time goes fast and it seems like eons ago that we were in the hospital meeting her for the first time.

She continues to grow, getting bigger (approximately 9.5 lbs now) and has graduated to size 1 diapers.  We realized she needed the next size up when the newborn diapers didn't seem to contain any pee or poop and poop was shooting up and out the back and sometimes out the front, and of course sometimes out the side.  The last of the Huggies newborn diapers that we had were frustrating me to no end and I just had to give up and start with the next size up.  Yes, this is quite interesting I know.

We've been engaging in more activities like lots of reading, musical toys, playing with little stuffed animals, singing, lots of walking around talking and pointing things out, swinging on the tree swing out back before it gets too hot (but the mosquitos are ANNOYING), and tummy time on the playmat.  I have been loving all the cooing, it's adorable!!

Peter and I have talked about getting more of a schedule down for her and are trying to stick to it.  She gets about 5-6 feedings a day and a lot of what we do is based around that.  We're trying to have our breakfast, lunch, and dinners at decent times as well as trying to get Abby's bath time in on schedule, followed by her 1 bottle a day, and then put down in her crib to sleep.  Hopefully by starting this now it'll be easier once I'm back to work.  The past 2 days have been pretty good and I feel like I've gotten more sleep.  We also started to give Abby Mylicon drops so hopefully that is helping.  She tends to cry a lot and arch her back right after being fed so we've resorted to drops.

First Shady Maple Trip

Sad the weekend is over!  I kinda don't look forward to Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays since Peter works those days.  Contrary to how some other people feel, I enjoy having my husband home with me, able to help out with Abby.  HUGE HELP.  I'm not saying M/W/F is horrible but the other days are just so much better - family days.

Here is a pic of Abby, taken on Friday.  I love this pic because she was smiling, giggling, and cooing up a storm.

This past weekend started with a trip out to Shady Maple - another first for Abbykins!  There were about 25 of us there for one of Peter's co-workers good-bye party.  Abby was ok while we were there.  She was content at first and then got a lil' fussy so we had to take turns jingling keys and walking around the halls with her.  She eventually fell asleep and was good in the car to and from though!  When will Shady Maple ever bring back their apple fritters?!  I miss them!

On Saturday, Granma and Ole Grandad came down for a visit (that "bad, bad man").  We went for a nice drive around the Main Line and Jeff introduced us to the wondrous wonders of Wawa milkshakes.  This is a potentially bad thing, since we frequent Wawa often... and now we know about their milkshakes and the cool machine they're made in.  Yum-my.  When we got back Peter grilled us some burgers, corn on the cob and we also had cantaloupe.  Here we are enjoying our centerpiece:

Today, Nana and Pop Pop came down since they returned from their 2 week Hawaii trip and picked up their Carter baby and got to see us and their grandbaby Abby.  Abby received 2 very pretty Hawaiian outfits (no coconut bras or grass skirts haha) and Peter and I got some treats and trinkets also!  So glad they had a wonderful trip!

Here is a pic of Carter and Sophie taken on their last day together, before Carter went back home.

Bullets and Bonnets

Last week Peter, Abby, and I decided to take a little day trip out to Cabela's in Hamburg.  It was one of those 100 degree days.  Abby behaves in the car for the most part and tends to fall asleep after we get going.  If she's awake though, she's not fond of stopping and likes the car to always be moving.  Therefore, we tend to run through red lights and stop signs to avoid crying (kidding).

First we went in and grubbed some lunch upstairs.  Before we got shopping though we went back out to the car to feed Abby in order to have a pleasant shopping experience.  We had to drive around for awhile to find a shady spot, it was so hot (we used the AC of course).  After feeding, some spit up and a diaper change, we went back to Cabela's and found some items to purchase - however, they were free since we had a bunch of earned Cabela's points.  Items included Frontline for Sophie, bullets, socks, and a hex sign.

Here are Peter and Abby having a father/daughter moment in the ammo aisle!

On Saturday, we took another lil' trip up north to visit Granma, Grandad, Uncle Alan and Rachel, and Aunt Julie... and Charley too!

It was a nice visit.  Abby received a cute PA Dutch bonnet straight outta Lancaster as well as a Phillies Howard tshirt, and even some 'Abigail' stickers!  We finished the night off with some ice-cream from Premise Made.

Here is Abby modeling her new bonnet:

Lastly, everyone got into the motions of baby bouncing and rocking, including Jeff and Charley!

Look Alikes

My mom found a picture of me when I was about 4 weeks old (right) and compared it to one of Abby's pictures just after she was born (left).  Check out the similarities!
